The female Narcissus

Vanity cost Narcissus dearly. He wasted away, too enamoured with his own reflection to go do anything useful.
This shoot may be titled Poseidon’s Courtesan but our friends at Bloginity tell us the story is actually about a woman enchanted by her own beauty. She’s like a female Narcissus.
That seed of obsessive vanity that seems to be slowly taking hold of the model is conveyed in both her flawlessness and her expressions – there’s vulnerability, clouded by darkness. Holly Cox’s styling hits the ancient sea Goddess theme on the mark, silver fishscale paillettes and waves of tulle the arrows to photographer Alice Luker’s bow.

But there’s nothing to say Alice Luker’s protagonist – or any of us, for that matter – should have to suffer a fate as dramatic as the pining Narcissus.
Beautifully photographed and styled, with hair and makeup by Defaf Alamri, you can view more at the gallery above.
